A great hobby for classic monster movie fans is collecting monster movie-related toys and models. Unfortunately, it's also a hobby that can lead to disappointment. So, let HORROR-WOOD guide you through...
Well, the San Diego Comic Con has just ended where some new horror action figures were displayed. SOTA toys generated a lot of interest for modern horror fans for their newly unveiled "Now Playing line of figures. Fans of the Re-Animator film series will be happy to see that Dr. West (played by Jeffrey Combs) is being offered in a 7-inch action figure. To be honest, as much as I am a fan of this film myself, the photos that Ive seen of the figure are a bit disappointing. Of course, this is just the prototype, so hopefully some improvements will be made. Another figure offered in this line is a Leprechaun figure from the film series of the same name. More impressive was a large Lord Of Darkness on Throne figure, from the film Legend. SOTA also had a very well done diorama featuring a scene from the film Tremors. They also had an interesting prototype in its early stages that featured the transformed werewolf from the film American Werewolf In London. Ill be very interested in seeing what the finished piece looks like.
For the Universal Monster fan, Im very, very happy to announce that Sideshow Collectibles is planning the release of a life-size Bela Lugosi as Dracula bust. I am very, very impressed with the Lugosi likeness this time around. The sad news is that its going for $449! Weve sure come a long way from those $9 7-inch figures!
