Submission guidelines, disclaimers, and other fine print...
1. SUBMISSIONS: HORROR-WOOD not only accepts, but actively solicits submissions from established writers, aspiring writers, and fans of the genre. We accept mini-movie reviews, full reviews, articles, and, of course, "gore-respondence," as long as the subject is related to classic and classic-cult horror films (no contemporary films need apply). Just e-mail Renfield with your submissions or article ideas. N.B.: Material for each issue must be received no later than the week prior to the date of publication (the first of every month). HORROR-WOOD does not pay for submissions. Thus, compensation is in the from of contributing to the literature on the genre and having your work displayed on the World Weird Web. In other wordsno pay, but a lot of play! Any material submitted to us and published remains the writer's property...all we receive is first Internet publication rights. 2. COPYRIGHTS AND SUCH: HORROR-WOODs contents fall into foul, er, four categories. The first is material created by us which is copyrighted by us and not for use elsewhere without permission. The second is material copyrighted by others and used with permission. The third is material believed to be in the public domain. The fourth (and this is a sticky wicket, indeed) is copyrighted (presumably) material used under the "fair use" provisions of existing copyright laws, i.e., used sparingly as part of a review of the entire work in question, e.g., vidcaps, press materials, stills and posters from films. The legal library at Doc Sewards asylum is undersubscribed to put it mildly, and Renfield doesnt know a tort from a retort. Thus, if anyone feels anything in HORROR-WOOD is used in violation of copyright or intellectual property rights outside of "fair use," please notify us and, if the claim is merited, that material will be excised immediately. HORROR-WOOD wishes to give credit when and where it is due and does not wish to tread on anyones trademark toes. Accordingly, we take many pains to acknowledge the sources of material we use. If we fail to do so, or mis-acknowledge a source, again, please contact us and we will make hasty amends. 3. HORROR-WOOD is a registered trademark (HORROR-WOODŽ). Do not call your horror film review site HORROR-WOOD or HORRORWOOD, or you will run afoul of the trademark laws. This is fair warning. 4. A FINAL NOTE: HORROR-WOOD exists to serve classic and cult horror film fans, not to please businesses and organizations involved in the genre. If we review your product or service and you feel we missed the mark, let us know. However, if we are unconvinced after you state your case, the original material stands as written. There are far too many Web "publications" shilling for commercial interests and we will not join that crowd. When and if we run paid advertising, it will be labeled as such and will not influence the content of HORROR-WOOD. The only exception is our continued participation in and promotion of the annual Monster Bashes, and we welcome any feedback, pro or con, about those. Okay? Fair enough? Still fiends? Good! Now let's get back to the fun stuff... |
